John Carruthers

John Alfred Carruthers, 63, of Louisville, Kentucky was pronounced dead on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at his home.

He was born September 25, 1960, to Tom Carruthers and the late Mary Beth Furches Carruthers of Murray, Kentucky. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Virginia Furches of Murray and David and Vena Carruthers of Lake Charles, Louisiana.

A 1978 graduate of Murray High School and 1982 journalism graduate of Murray State University, John worked for many years in the banking and restaurant industries. He was active in the science fiction community and regularly contributed his writings to related publications.

John is survived by his father, Thomas Carruthers, of Murray, and a brother, Jeffrey Daniel (J.D.) Carruthers, and his wife, Patsy, of Lexington, Kentucky. He also leaves a niece and nephew.

Private services were in Louisville. Friends and relatives are encouraged to make memorial gifts to Louisville Free Public Library or the charity of their choice.
