In Loving Memory of John Jameson “Jamie” Rutledge
John Jameson “Jamie” Rutledge, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Jamie will be remembered most for the love he had for his family and the joy he found in life. He was a man who appreciated adventure and the beauty of the world around him. He loved scuba diving, the beach, and the mountains—places where he could experience the wonder of nature and make memories with the people he loved. Above all, Jamie cherished his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Patrice Rutledge, who shared his life and stood beside him through every season.
Jamie was a proud father and grandfather. His children, Samuel Rutledge (Rachael), Lisa Gilland, Shannon Schnell (Jeffrey), and Rob Gilland (Helen), brought him immense joy. He was especially delighted in his role as “Pa” to his seven grandchildren: David, Noël, Danielle, Lilliana, Genevieve, Julian, and Addabelle. His grandchildren were a special source of happiness and pride, and the memories they made together will remain a treasured part of their lives.
Jamie is also survived by his loving siblings: Shellie Ash (Bob), Pattie Hart (Grant), Marty Handel, Wes Rutledge (Terri), Rick Rutledge (Stacey), and Jeff Rutledge, along with 14 nieces and nephews who were an important part of his life and family.
Jamie faced his battle with lung cancer with courage and strength. Though his journey was difficult, he continued to find reasons to love, laugh, and treasure the time he had with those closest to him. His legacy is not defined by the illness he fought, but by the love he gave, the lives he touched, the adventures he enjoyed, and the memories he created.
Jamie’s family will carry his love with them—in the sound of laughter, in the beauty of a mountain view, in the feel of the ocean breeze, and in every family gathering where his presence will always be felt.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.
