John M. Stofel

John M. Stofel, age 85 passed away Monday morning, November 10, 2025 at Hosparus Health Inpatient Care Center after a long battle with cancer.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Dora, his parents George and Grace, his brothers George and Austin and his sisters Geraldine and Grace.
His memory will be forever cherished by his daughters, Dorenda K. Stackhouse of Indiana and Ila S. Stofel(Tina) of Florida,granddaughter Crystal D. Stackhouse and his many nieces and nephews.
John loved to go fishing and was an avid basketball and auto racing fan. He was experienced in many trades. He applied his many skills in carpentry, building and mechanics to help friends, family and those in need. No matter the time, or weather, if someone needed help he was there.
There are no words that can express his family’s gratitude to Hosparus and John’s neighbors who were with him throughout his illness.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Contributions in his memory may be made to Hospice of Louisville.

John gave my first real job, working in concrete> He was patient and understanding explaining details of the work. John had a way of pulling a joke with a straight face until he’d break out laughing, was fair and a wonderful person to work for. I’m very proud to have known him. My deepest sympathies to Dorenda and family.
