Johnny Lee Salyers

Johnny Lee Salyers, aged 67, of Hwy 134, Hazel Green, KY entered into eternal rest the eveningof December 23, 2024 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center, Lexington, KY, followinga brief illness.
Johnny was born in Morgan County, Kentucky on November 4, 1957, the son of the late Kashand Millie Lindon Salyers. Johnny was saved at an early age, and accepted the Lord Jesus Christas his Savior.
Johnny attended school in Grant and Morgan Counties, and was employed as a drywall installer, subsequently founding and operating his own business, Eastern Kentucky Drywall Corporation, for many years. He and his crew traveled throughout eastern and central Kentucky, completing both residential and commercial projects. Johnny was well-known known in the industry for his knowledge and skill in the drywall business and also worked as a consultant. One of the last projects on which he worked before retiring was with the UK Medical Center expansion.
Also, an accomplished auto mechanic, Johnny was an avid drag racing fan, building and racing hishis own vehicles. He particularly enjoyed attending drag racing events with his family, especially at the Kentucky Dragway at Clay City, where he and family members often raced in past years,
spending many warm summer weekends enjoying the sport. Johnny was a lover of animals, and had a particular affinity for German Shepherds, and his could often be found riding in the back of his work truck with him. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing billiards, at which he excelled, and riding his ATV, taking excursions with his family and friends on the trails and ridges around his community.
In addition to his parents Kash and Millie, Johnny was preceded in death by one sister, Lula Mae "Blue” Salyers Gibson; six brothers: Leo, George, Melvin, Jim Allen, Donald and Earl Salyers.
Johnny is survived by one daughter, Alesha Salyers (Chelsea) of Baltimore, MD, and one son, Jonathan Salyers (Erica) of Lexington, KY; his former wife, Bonnie Perkins Salyers of West Liberty, KY; two granddaughters whom he loved deeply, Alyssa Salyers and Jaden Salyers, Both of Brevard, NC; three brothers: Raymond “PJ” Salyers of Williamstown, KY; Bill Salyers (Lisa)of Lima, OH, and Drexel Salyers of Hazel Green, KY; one sister, Margie Salyers Elam of Caney,
KY and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins that love and miss him.
Cremation services were conducted by Magnolia Cremations, Jeffersonville, IN. A private interment service will be held at the Salyers Family Cemetery, Hwy 134, Adele, KY. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Morgan County Animal Shelter or to one’s favorite charity.

I haven’t seen johnny in many years tho I’m certain he was still the same ole genuine Johnny salyers that only he could be and johnny always loved that about himself so he never had any desire to change a thing about himself or his environment and I’m also certain that he seen it all as paradise on earth
