Joseph Sims Sr.

Joseph Sims Sr., 87, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away on May 29, 2026.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Sims; children, Tammy Stewart, Angela Morgan (Mark), Joseph Sims Jr. (Joe), and Amanda Sims; two step-children, Teresa Pangburn and Randy Bowser (Angie); many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Joseph is preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Sims; son, Dwight Sims; and daughter, Karen Sims.
He was an avid fan of University of Kentucky athletics and the New York Yankees. He dedicated more than 40 years of service to The Courier Journal, where he built a long and respected career.

Joe was my uncle and he was always generous with his time. He took us to his softball games, the track, and basketball games. I always appreciated his job with the newspaper. I was so sorry to hear of his passing. Our deepest sympathies to his family.
