Julia Mae Rogers

June 22, 1947 -  July 7, 2026

Julia Mae Rogers leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and determination. She is survived by her devoted husband and a blended family of seven children, twelve grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and a host of beloved extended family and friends whose lives were forever enriched by knowing her.

To say that Julia was a phenomenal woman would be an understatement. She was vibrant, intelligent, beautiful, and compassionate, with a generous heart that welcomed others as family. She was fiercely independent, determined, and never afraid to forge her own path. She treasured the family she built and the lifelong friendships she cultivated along the way.

Julia found joy in shopping, reading, and, most of all, sports. She was an avid fan with an impressive knowledge of the games, the players, and the rules. College basketball and football held a special place in her heart, and when she was younger, she dreamed of becoming a sports announcer.

In 1978, Julia moved from Corinth, Mississippi, to Louisville, Kentucky, with two children by her side and another on the way. Through unwavering determination, perseverance, and the support of family and friends, she built an extraordinary life for herself and her family.

Throughout her life, Julia achieved many milestones, including serving as Secretary for the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) in Corinth, Mississippi; being an active member of the NAACP in Corinth; building a successful career with ITT in a male-dominated industry; serving as a Sears Teleservice Supervisor, leading more than 300 employees; building and closing on her forever home in 1995; successfully advocating for the installation of the traffic light at the intersection of Jeanine Drive and Indian Trail in her neighborhood; marrying the love of her life on September 12, 1995; becoming a top sales representative at Dillard's; and bringing Lil Wayne's TRUKFIT clothing line to the Dillard's Jefferson Mall location and helping coordinate Lil Wayne's appearance for the 2012 launch.

Julia faced life's challenges with remarkable resilience, including her courageous battle with lung cancer. She fought with grace, strength, and unwavering determination until the very end.

Her final wish was simple yet deeply heartfelt: that the world would know she tried to be the very best mother she could be and that she fought as hard as she could to overcome lung cancer.

She accomplished far more than she may have realized. Her love, resilience, and strength live on in the family she cherished and in the countless lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
