Kenneth "Ken" Monroe Jr.

05/29/1966 - 07/06/2025

Kenneth “Ken” Monroe Jr., 59, of New Albany, Indiana, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025, in his hometown. Born on May 29, 1966, in New Albany, Ken lived a life defined by quiet strength, deep devotion, and unwavering love for his family and friends.

Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Monroe; his children, Kathryn Yoder, Kyle Monroe, and Elizabeth McCauley; and his cherished grandchildren, Riley and Mina (children of Kathryn), and Cameron (child of Elizabeth). He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who were touched by his kindness and generosity.

A skilled industrial mechanic by trade, Ken was known for his work ethic and dedication. Outside of work, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life—fishing, hunting, and especially hosting unforgettable cookouts where laughter, stories, and incredible food brought everyone together. These gatherings were a reflection of his heart: warm, welcoming, and full of love.

Though a reserved and private man, Ken’s actions spoke volumes. He was a devoted husband, a proud father and grandfather, a loyal brother and uncle, and a true friend.

His impact on those around him was profound and lasting. To know Ken was to know someone who would always show up, always care, and always give his best.

As we say goodbye, we hold close the words:

"Those we love never truly leave us, and I'll remember you even when I've forgotten all the rest. To me you were true. To me you were the best. Until we meet again, I love you so much."

A private memorial will be held by the family to honor Ken’s life and legacy.

Kenny always and I mean ALWAYS made sure we were fed and full. He gave what he could when he could and took care of me and my family for a long time. He would crack jokes and pick on ya but was the sweetest man ever. I wouldn’t have changed him for anything. Love and miss you uncle Kenny

Kenny.. Gosh dang it Kenny. What couldn’t you say about him? He was the best neighbor, friend, and mentor I have ever met. He was tough as nails but will do anything in his power for you if he could. From getting on to me and Kyle to tearing up rancho and swimming through the mud to test the puddles to lake ariana and eating your take on Korean ribs. I’ll forever miss you.
