Larry Corbin Zickefoose of Covington, KY, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2026, at the age of 75. He was born on July 18, 1950, to the late Corbin V. and Mary E. Zickefoose in Fairmont, WV. After graduating from Monongah High School, he enlisted in the Army and married Deborah J. DeFazio, and together they shared 56 wonderful years.

From a family of coal miners, Larry mined for seven years in West Virginia before relocating to Covington, Kentucky, where he began a 33-year career as a computer systems analyst for the Internal Revenue Service.

Larry loved history and was an expert genealogist and storyteller. In 1990, he published From Zigenfuss to Zickefoose 1739-1990. He also enjoyed martial arts and was a 3rd-degree black belt in Combat Hapkido. A longtime member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Larry was active in the men’s group and Bible study.

Above all, Larry was devoted to his family and took great joy in making everyone laugh. His sense of humor, hugs, and expressions of love will be deeply missed.

He is preceded in death by his sister, Linda (Charles) Marstiller, and granddaughter, Rylie Zimmerman.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah; son Jay (Amanda) DeFazio; son Corbin (Miranda) Zickefoose; daughter Melinda Zickefoose; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister Sharon (Steve) Lilly; and his faithful dog, Brady.

Following cremation and in accordance with Larry’s wishes, immediate family will have a private inurnment at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North in Williamstown, Kentucky.
