Larry Thomas Bemis, born May 18, 1955, in Duluth, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on November 17, 2024, at the age of 69. Larry is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Cathy Painter-Bemis, his children Rachel Bemis, Greg Painter, and Gen Nelson (Maiden: Painter),his granddaughter Lilly Connelly, his grandson Felix Nelson, and his brothers Guy and Bruce Bemis. He is preceded in death by his father Donald Bemis, his mother MaryLou Bemis (Maiden: McLaughlin), his brother Donald "Skip" Bemis, and his daughter Theresa Bemis.

Larry was a proud Navy Corpsman who followed in the footsteps of his military father. His love for our Veterans and his country was matched only by his love for family. He was a true craftsman at heart—whether tinkering with cars or building raised garden beds for his beloved wife Cathy. Larry cherished time spent fishing at Lake Michigan with friends and relished every opportunity to visit Kansas City, where he would enjoy BBQ with his grandson Felix.

Larry’s home in Converse, Indiana, was his sanctuary, where he enjoyed birdwatching, playing with his dogs and cats, and spending peaceful moments in nature. A man of quiet strength, Larry’s legacy will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Larry wished to be cremated and laid to rest in a national veterans cemetery, with a service to be determined at a later date. His memory will be forever cherished by those who loved him.

Cremation was chosen and Magnolia Cremations of Jeffersonville, Indiana has been entrusted with the arrangements.
