Laura Jean “Jean” Bastion

September 29, 1957 – September 3, 2026

Laura Jean Bastion, lovingly known as Jean, passed away on September 3, 2026, at the age of 68.

Jean was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and a woman who loved her family with everything she had. She had a personality all her own. She could make you laugh, drive you crazy, and love you fiercely—all sometimes in the very same day. That was Jean, and there will never be another quite like her.

Jean was preceded in death by her daughter, Jody Bane; her mother, Ruth Mattson; and her nephew, Steven Temple.

She leaves behind her sister, Martha Mattson; her brother, Kenny Mattson; and her daughter, Shannon Wauchek, and Shannon’s husband, Jeremy Wauchek.

Jean also leaves behind her grandchildren: Mercedes Garcia and her husband, Eric Garcia; Abigail Wauchek; Alexandra Flores; and Mariah Turnbow and her husband, Trevor Turnbow.

She was blessed with many great-grandchildren, including Nevaeh, Noviley, Bella, Aria, Stevie, Stormy, Layla, DJ, and Addie, who brought so much love and joy into her life.

Jean loved her family with every part of her heart. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her world. She loved them fiercely, completely, and without hesitation. The love she gave them will remain with them forever.

She will be deeply missed—not only for the love she gave, but for her laughter, her stubbornness, her stories, her personality, and all the little things that made her uniquely Jean.

Her family will carry her memory in their hearts and hold onto the love she gave them for the rest of their lives.

Rest peacefully, Mom. You were loved more than words could ever say.
