Laura Joyce Crane

Laura (Joyce to her closest) was a mother, wife, homemaker, friend, entrepreneur, & survivor. Laura was born in Mt. Washington, KY, on January 14, 1933. She passed away on June 15, 2025, at 12:50 a.m. in her home of 70+ years in Borden, Indiana. She peacefully left this earthly world, leaving behind her 6 children to carry on. Cathy Murphy, Charles Crane (Debbie), Matthew Crane (Camellia), Walter Crane (Kitty), Aaron Crane (Tara), Melissa Pixley (Matt). She also had 23 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sisters, Marcella McCrary, Susan A. Bolen; and brothers, Ernest Graef, Jr., Richard Graef. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Charlotte Graef and Clara Setters; along with Mother, Angeline Alcorn Graef; Father, Walter Lee Hurst; as well as her loving stepfather, Ernest Graef, Sr.; & by former husband, Charles O. Crane. Laura was a giving and loving person, but could also be stubborn, contrary, funny & full of laughter. She enjoyed going to yard sales, flea markets and filling her home with her treasures that brought her joy. She had a passion for reading and creating her own unique paintings-many of which she passed along to family and friends. She also loved her many orchids, plants & flowers. Laura will be greatly missed by her numerous family members & friends. 

Laura has requested cremation, no burial and no public memorial. She wanted to be remembered in our hearts as she lived. 

Cremation services are being performed by Magnolia Cremations of Jeffersonville, Indiana.
