Laura Mai Ramsey

11/22/1949 - 07/23/2025

On July 23, 2025, the world lost a true gem when Laura Mai Ramsey of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away at the age of 75. Born on November 22, 1949, Laura brought joy and laughter to all who knew her.

Laura gave her life to Christ many years ago, at Truth of God Foundation. She graduated with an Associate Degree in Accounting at Jefferson Community College in 1995. She published her first book called "valleys"-"FAITH"-"mountains" "I AM STILL HERE" by Black Precious.

Laura was the beloved daughter of Sam Ramsey and Thelma L. Clark. She was a loving mother to her three precious jewels: Sonia (Varick) Rogers, Calvin McWhorter, and Yvette (Corky) Ousley. Laura also leaves behind 7 adoring grandchildren La'Quinnta Rogers, Vashon Rogers, Vanesha Rogers, Ja'Quon Ashby, Jean'Tay Ashby, Aria Ousley, and her PCA Porscia Battles who was considered her granddaughter who went above the her title and cared for our mother, and 6 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Known for her infectious smile and kind heart, Laura will be remembered for her quick wit and love of life. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing games, laughing, talking, and telling it how it is or how she thought it should be, and dancing to her favorite tunes. She was the life of the party when we all got together. She treated everyone like family and never met a stranger. Her love infectiously touched many people, and she has so many that called her mom's or granny, and she loved it all.

Although Laura may be gone, her spirit lives on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know her. Rest in peace, our sweet dear Laura until we meet again. You will be greatly missed.

(From the words spoken from Laura) Although I chose cremation, I just want those to remember me how I was. No need to look down on me. I never laid down much when I was here so out of respect, I chose not to allow you to see me like that now. Please respect my wishes and continue to show my precious jewels love and comfort while they go through the difficult times.

Your now reunited with your first family and this not goodbye but a see you later. Your great grandchildren we learn about you for sure with the understanding that you mom were a Brave Princess Warrior, and your War Cry has been heard. Blessed Memories and Cherish Love. After 30 years, there’s too many to list. But I’ll say this: Chocolate Thunder was an amazing, resilient woman. Street smarts, book smarts, not scared of anything or anybody. Truly a Queen! I didn’t know what green shoulder was until I met you.
