Lee Hardesty Work
7/10/1930 - 7/18/2024
Lee was a loving and patient mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, with an open mind and a delightful sense of humor. She died at home on July 18 at the age of 94, cared for by the family she loved, with the expert guidance of Hosparus.
Born in 1930 in Port Arthur, Texas, Lee was the only child of Dorothea and Lloyd Hardesty. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, whom she adored, and her beloved, oldest child, Jeanie.
Lee is survived by her children, Lisa Work (Jim Johnson), Martha Work (John Mican), Andy Work (Robin), and Jeanie’s partner, Nancy Isola.
Gigi will be missed by her grandchildren, Jesse Work, Laura (David) Overall, Andrew (Mara) Work, Frances Mican (partner Paul Baribeau), Grace Mican (partner Tyler Short); and great grandchildren, Liz, Tripp, Erick, Ditto, Lucy, Andy, and Julia.
Lee enjoyed reading, puzzles, and word games, as well as meandering drives in the countryside, and big puffy clouds. She will be remembered as having a steady, even temperament, always there with words of comfort and wisdom, not letting the small stuff ruffle her feathers. We are grateful to have had her in our lives for so long.
Her remains will be buried in Charleston, West Virginia, next to her husband Bill.
