Leslie Byerly

Leslie had a gift that people do not talk about in obituaries. She could walk into a room and have everyone laughing within seconds. She was silly. She loved a good joke. She lived like she meant it.

Who She Was

Leslie spent her career in service, working with disabled clients in home care facilities, supporting people who needed her. Recently, she started a new chapter as a leasing agent in Indiana, where she had been living for the past five years. But her new real passion was bigger than any job.

She was fierce about animals. Dogs, cat, all of them. And she had a long life dream that mattered more than anything; Opening a no kill shelter with her daughter Tiffany. That dream defined her. It still does.

The Specifics

Leslie had options. Strong options. About food, about shows, about life. Double dragons on ghost Avenue for her general sales an egg Rolls, nowhere else would do Zatarains frozen chicken Alfredo. Sam’s Club chicken salad. Mexican and Italian food whenever possible. She was a woman who knew what she wanted and was not apologizing for it.

She loved thrift at the mustard seed and Goodwill, finding treasures. Nobody else could see. Her favorite color was purple. She was obsessed with detective shows, horror, movies, funny, kid, movies, action films, and especially La Brea. She and Tiffany watched it together, and those moments matter. But Leslie did not just eat well. She cooked well. Her taco bake was legendary. The one her kids still talk about. The one people asked her to make. She did not just Have opinions about food; she made food that mattered.

Her Faith

Leslie was a Christian who found her faith community at evangel world prayer center. She went to church. She prayed. She believed.

What She Left Behind

Leslie is served by her four children: Tiffany Denney, Brennon (Nicole) Sosnin, Dylan(Danielle) Grimes and Sarah Sosnin, her mother Doris Preciado and a family that will never forget the woman who made them laugh, who worked towards her dreams, who loved fiercely, and who showed up for people.
