Leslie Hobbs
7/08/1940 - 2/07/2025
Leslie “Pete” Fordham Hobbs, 84, passed away at his home in Shelbyville, KY on February 7, 2025. Pete was born on July 8, 1940, in Sanborn County, South Dakota to Clyde and Leila (Thompkins) Hobbs. Pete was known throughout his life as a hard worker. Despite leaving school by 9th grade, he made a successful career for himself in heavy moving and rigging and was proud of all he accomplished before he retired in 2018. He was devoted to providing for his family and cared deeply for others. He will be missed for his compassion, generosity, creativity, energy, goofy sense of humor, and even for his occasional orneriness.
Pete is preceded in death by his wife, Martha “Mickie” (Cannon) Hobbs; his daughters, Jamelyn Griffin and Jacqueline Cichocki; his parents, Clyde and Leila; and his siblings Charles, Richard, Beverly, Carol Jean, and James. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Philip Boyer; his son-in-law Mark Griffin; his 12 grandchildren; and his 9 great-grandchildren.
Per Pete’s requests, cremation was chosen, and no memorial services will be held. Those who wish to honor his memory are encouraged to do an act of service in their community or for someone they love.
