Linda Kirkman
01/29/1945 - 06/07/2026
Linda Kay Revels Kirkman passed away on the 7th of June 2026, surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of service, faith, kindness, and devotion to those she loved most.
Born Jan 29th 1945 to Alonza Thomas Revels, Sr. and Lois Mae Revels, Linda was raised in Bear Grass, North Carolina where she graduated from Bear Grass High School in 1963. During her school years, she excelled both academically and athletically, serving as co-captain of the girls' basketball team and holding leadership positions in numerous school clubs.
Linda dedicated more than 30 years of her career to serving students and families as a certified bookkeeper and a State of North Carolina Certified School Food Nutritionist. She took great pride in her work and found joy in caring for others through service, whether in her profession, her church, or her home.
A woman of deep faith, Linda was an active member of North Asheville Baptist Church in Asheville, North Carolina, where she devoted countless hours to Vacation Bible School, children's church camps, and other church ministries. After moving to Indiana, she became a member of Eastern Heights Baptist Church in Jeffersonville.
Linda was a lifelong fan of NC State Wolfpack basketball and carried her love of the game from her days on the court into adulthood. She especially cherished time spent with family, whether gathered around the kitchen table, sharing meals she lovingly prepared, tending a garden, or playing outside with her grandchildren. Her generous spirit and servant's heart touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Alonza Thomas Revels, Sr. and Lois Mae Revels; her beloved husband, Jimmy R. Kirkman, Sr.; and her brother, Alonza Thomas Revels, Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Shelia Kirkman Green and husband Thomas Green, and their children, Victoria and Elizabeth Green; her son, J. Roger Kirkman, Jr. and wife Bethany Kirkman, and their children, Sterling, Jordan, Grayson, and Lian Kirkman; her stepson, Lewis Bryan Kirkman and wife Donna Kirkman, and their children, Chris and David Kirkman; along with many extended family members, friends, church family, and all who were blessed by her kindness and unwavering love.
Linda's life was a beautiful example of faith in action, a life spent serving others, loving deeply, and putting family first. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched and in the traditions, values, and love she passed onto future generations.
Well done, good and faithful servant. Matthew 25 23

Sharing the same birth year and from then through high school, we were never more than 2 miles apart and most of the years less than a quarter mile. First cousins and friends, our lives were always intertwined no matter where she lived. Our phone conversations were frequent and our prayers for each other daily. My last conversation with her was late Tuesday night when she called me. We talked as usual about the happenings here and updates on how everyone was doing. With her sharing with me all that was happening where she was. That conversation was a bit shorter than some because it was late and she was not feeling all that well. To share one’s life for eighty-one years with an individual that you knew so well and loved so much is a gift and a blessing. I will sorely miss her, but I know she is rejoicing in the presence of our Heavenly Father and in being reunited with our loved ones that went before her. With love, dear cousin, until I see you again.
