Lora Louise Foster

Lora Louise Foster, age 97, passed away on December 14, 2025, in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born in Harrisville, West Virginia, to Oscar and Freda Hardman, who preceded her in death.
Louise was united in marriage to James Robert Foster, with whom she shared 48 years of marriage from 1947 until his passing in 1998. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and devotion.
She is survived by her son, William Robert Foster, and his wife Jean Marie Cecil. Louise was preceded in death by her son, James Steven Foster, and is survived by his wife, Martha Foster.
Louise was a loving grandmother to Steven Foster, Matthew Foster, Gwen Reishman, Celeste Million, and Miriam Kan, and, a proud great-grandmother to nine great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by her siblings Patricia Lewis Hardman, Lucy Jean Baron, and Douglas “Butch" Hardman, along with numerous cousins, grandchildren, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her siblings Howard, David Gale, Gary, Larry, Doris Mae Tappin, and Helen St. Clair.
A woman of faith, Louise was a devoted member of Amelia Baptist Church, Amelia Island, FL. She spent her early years in Harrisville, West Virginia, and later lived in Lexington Park, Maryland. Her life journey also included time in Michigan, New York, and Virginia, before settling in Florida, where she resided in Jacksonville, St. Augustine, and Fernandina Beach. She later lived in Birmingham, Alabama, and ultimately lived her final year in Lexington, Kentucky.
Louise dedicated 35 years of her professional life to a career in Military Housing Support, reflecting her strong work ethic and commitment to public service. She was a gifted storyteller, a passionate artist, and a lover of theater and live music. She enjoyed the outdoors, travel, and creative expression, leaving behind stories and memories treasured by all who knew her.
Above all, Louise's greatest passion was her family. Her legacy of love, creativity, and devotion will live on through generations. Her final resting place will be in Harrisville, WV alongside her husband. A graveside service will be planned.
