Marshelle retired from the Illinois Department of Revenue after many years of dedicated service. In April 1979, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, beginning a lifelong journey of faith and ministry. She faithfully served as First Lady of Deliverance Gospel Church for many years and held numerous leadership roles throughout her ministry, including Director of Children’s Ministry, Director of Fine Arts Ministry, Transportation Director, Church Administrator, Sunday School Teacher, and After-School Tutor.

Her commitment to spiritual growth and education was reflected in her academic achievements. She earned a Bachelor of Ministry in May 2008 from Revelation Message Bible College in Jacksonville, Florida; a Master of Ministry in May 2009 from Jacksonville Theological Seminary; and a Doctor of Ministry in Christian Counseling in May 2010, also from Jacksonville Theological Seminary.

Marshelle was a gifted and creative soul. She was a writer, poet, potter, artist, singer, cook, and photographer. She loved nature and had a special fascination with storms, often referred to as a storm chaser. When she passed, rain fell in Illinois, Kentucky, and North Carolina—each place where her children lived—an enduring reminder of her presence and spirit.

Marshelle was known for her kindness and warmth; she never met a stranger. Her smile lit up every room she entered, and she filled the lives of those around her with laughter, love, and unwavering faith. Her legacy of service, creativity, and devotion to God and family will live on in all who were blessed to know her.
