Mary Lou Lovins

Mary Lou Lovins, 71, of Scottsburg, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026. She was born on May 3, 1954, in Hazard, Kentucky to Dave “Willie” Combs and Cora Combs.

Mary was a proud graduate of Scottsburg High School, Class of 1972. She carried the friendships and memories from her school days with her throughout her life.

Above all, Mary’s greatest joy was her family. She was the proud and devoted mother of Rick (Steph) Lovins and Will (Katie) Lovins. Nothing brought her more happiness than being “Ma” to her beloved grandchildren: Everett, Lincoln, Gus, and Ben Lovins, and her precious granddaughter, Evie Lovins. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Mary is also survived by her loving sisters, Lou White of Austin and Stella Melton of Crothersville. She leaves behind a family who will deeply miss her steady love, warm heart, and the kindness she showed to everyone she met.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness performed in Mary’s honor—a reflection of the compassion and generosity she showed throughout her life. Her memory will live on in the love she gave so freely and the many lives she touched.
