Melisa Elmore

September 11, 1973 – June 12, 2025

Melisa Elmore, 51, of Underwood, Indiana, passed away peacefully at home on June 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Paul Elmore; her children, Samantha Basham, Brittany Rankin (Patrick), and Anthony Elmore; her cherished granddaughter, Maddison Rankin; her mother, Deborah Britt; her father, John Vinson Sr. (Gina); her brother, John Vinson Jr. (Jessi); her sister, Jessica Britt; and her sister Harley Fluharty (Wyatt). She also leaves behind nieces and nephews Justice, Johanna, Amelia, and Lucas, as well as great-niece Harmony and great-nephew Jayce.

Melisa is preceded in death by her beloved sister, Leighann Hecht; her precious granddaughter, Nova Layne; her great-nephew, Joshua Dew; her grandparents, and several other dear family members.

Melisa lived a life marked by faith, service, and deep love for others. She was active in her church community, passionate about crafting, gardening, and ministering to those in need through jail ministry and feeding the homeless. Above all, family was her heart and her greatest joy.

She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her courage in the face of adversity, and her selfless spirit. Her favorite scripture was Matthew 19:26:

“Jesus looked at them and said, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.’”

Her favorite worship song, “O Come to the Altar” by Elevation Worship, was a reflection of the grace she carried.

Melisa’s life was a testimony of love and belief, always living by her favorite words:
“Faith over Fear.”

I can remember you being there for me when we were little and protecting me. I loved on Saturday mornings you waking me up telling me to wake up so we can watch cartoons. I have so many memories of my big sister. I love you and am so glad you found the Lord.
Love you so much Missy.
