Melissa Anne Lane

12/31/1969 - 7/22/2025

Melissa Anne Lane, 55, of Kentucky, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2025, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with stage 4 renal cell carcinoma.

Melissa was born on December 31, 1969, in Fort Knox, Kentucky. She is now reunited with her parents Clara Sophia Thomas and Elmer “Buster” Anthony Thomas.

She is survived by her three children: Timothy Lane (Meredith), Ashley Saylor (Christian), and Gracie Dennison. She was a proud, loving, and devoted grandmother to Wyatt, Jack, and Charlotte. The love she had for her grandchildren was unlike anything imaginable — pure, joyful, and unwavering.

Melissa is also survived by her father, Martin Lane; her six siblings: Tony (Pam) Thomas, Tom Thomas, Laurie (Sam) Cosentino, Martin (Caralee) Witteveen-Lane, Todd (Kristin) Thomas, and Erin Thomas, along with 13 nieces and nephews.

Melissa spent much of her life caring for others. She worked in childcare for many years and was deeply loved by the children and families she cared for. Later, she started a private nanny service and eventually her own concierge cleaning business, which she ran for over five years. No matter what path she took, Melissa led with kindness and a strong desire to be of service to others.

She will be remembered for her quiet strength, her deep love for her family, and the kindness she showed to everyone around her. Her presence will be missed more than words can express.

The family will hold a private celebration of life in the coming weeks.

Her relationship with Tim was one that taught us a lot. We try to follow her example to this day. Hoping for some small peace for each of you in the coming days.

Melissa nannied for my family when we lived in Kentucky for a short time. We all loved her! She was so good with my three kids, Wil, Chris, and Clea. We loved her kindness, genuine love, and humor. She was really funny! I loved to hear her stories about her family. It was clear she treasured those relationships. She was so proud of her kids. Thank you for sharing her with us. I’m so grateful that she is part of our family story.
Love,
Pam
