Michael Anthony Stecyk
08/30/1957-08/10/2026
Michael Anthony Stecyk (68) passed away peacefully at home on August 10, 2026,
surrounded by his loving wife Susan, dear friend and neighbor Melissa, and beloved
dog Pepper.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Michael & Beatrice Stecyk, and loving in-
laws, John & Rosalyn Metro.
Michael & Susan retired to Southern Indiana from NW Indiana (The Region). Michael
was the Valedictorian of Hanover Central HS Class of 1975 and a graduate of Purdue
University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1980. He worked for several years at
Inland Steel and Marblehead Lime Company.
Michael played baseball for many years from Little League through high school varsity
and finished up with the Legion League. As a lefty, he was an excellent first baseman!
He often commented that “I could die happy when the time came” because he watched
each of the Chicago sports teams (Bears, Bulls, White Sox, Blackhawks & Cubs) win a
least one championship!
Michael is survived by his wife Susan of almost 46 years who shared his same
birthdate. They were also married on their birthday on August 30, 1980. They have
three children, Michael J, Dr. Joseph (Dr. Sajani), and Julia, and one beloved grandson,
Ethan.
Michael is also survived by his favorite Aunt Barbara, Sam & Sunita (Sajani’s parents),
along with many dear friends: Laura & Larry, Michelle & Marc, Chris & Craig, Karen,
Antoinette, Joyce & Manny, Cindy & Jim, and Nancy & Don.
Special thanks to our dear neighbors, Melissa & Kevin, and Marta & Archie for their
love, help and support in caring for Michael. Also, thank you to the wonderful staff at
Hosparus Health and the St. Michael Church parish family for their prayers and support
during Michael’s illness.
Michael was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed by all who
knew him. His one regret was that he did not go fishing enough!
May God grant him eternal rest in Heaven.
