Michael Dennis Vines, age 73, passed away on March 22, 2026, at The Med Center in Bowling Green, KY, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and quiet strength that will be remembered by all who knew him.

Born on August 29, 1952, in Long Beach, CA, Michael lived a life marked by hard work, integrity, and a genuine appreciation for the people and experiences that mattered most. He devoted many years to his career as a Technical Engineer, where he wrote technical manuals for Ford Aerospace. He earned the respect of colleagues through his commitment, knowledge, and unwavering work ethic. While proud of his professional accomplishments, Michael was defined far more by the way he treated others than by any title he held.

Outside of work, Michael found joy in writing short stories and was a published author. Whether he was completing research for his books, speaking with people around the world as a short-wave radio operator, spending time fishing, honing his photography skills, traveling in Germany for a year, enjoying fine dining as a food connoisseur, or simply enjoying the company of family and friends, he approached life with curiosity and gratitude. His passions enriched not only his own life but also the lives of those around him.

Above all, Michael treasured his family. He was a devoted son, husband, father, stepfather, brother, and uncle whose love, guidance, and steady presence provided comfort and encouragement through every season of life. The memories he created with his family will remain a lasting source of strength and joy.

Michael is survived by his wife, Gay Andersen Vines of Austin, KY; his adopted son, Dillion Wayne Smith of Austin, KY; his stepchildren, Richard Lee Beckett of Ridgecrest, CA, Duane Lloyd Beckett of Austin, KY, Michele Rene Brigdon of Trona, CA, and Jeffry Larid Beckett of Burbank, CA; and his niece, Dina Vines, and his nephew, Ronald Vines, both of California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Carlos Vines and Julia Ann Baranowski, both of Placentia, CA, and his only sibling, his brother, Robert Vines of Placentia, CA.

Michael's life was measured not by accolades, but by the relationships he nurtured, the kindness he extended, and the example he set through a life well lived. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Michael was cremated and his ashes placed in an urn. He will be buried with his wife at a future date.
