Nadia Beth Dabbagh passed away at home on September 6, 2026, after an extended illness. She was born May 18, 1966, to Marsha Lynne Edwards and Mohamed Abdul-Hay Dabbagh in Gardena, California. She enjoyed cooking, exploring other cultures through food, gardening, reading, and spending time with her daughter being silly and laughing loudly.

Nadia is preceded in death by both her parents, her dear friend David Gabbard, and numerous beloved cats. She leaves behind her daughter Bethlyn (Jedidiah) Shepherd, her three dramatic cats, and countless friends and family.

Nadia received a bachelor's and master's in fire safety from Eastern Kentucky University and a master's in theology from Asbury Seminary College. Despite her extensive education, she was most proud of her time dedicated to youth and children's ministry. Specifically, she was endlessly proud of the years spent with Open Door Church youth ministry (Lexington, Kentucky). Her girls Emily Harris, Vanessa Smith, Amberlee Henry, and Katie Smith were especially important to her.

Nadia dedicated herself to giving back to anyone in need. She exemplified what it meant to be Christ-like and charitable. Even through her illness, she found numerous cat rescues, food banks, and churches to volunteer her time. She was also heavily involved in outreach in her community focused on helping the unhoused and advocacy for anyone in need.

Nadia was notoriously stubborn and frustratingly independent, but she was also selfless and gracious beyond measure. She was unapologetically loud and never afraid to express her opinion or laugh at an inopportune time. The world is a quieter, darker place without her laughter and light.
