Nona Gay Richards-Lang
9/12/1954 - 11/26/2024
Nona Gay Richards-Lang, 70, of Marysville, Indiana peacefully entered Heavens’ gates on Nov 26, 2024 surrounded by family at Nortons Hosparus Health in Louisville KY. She was born September 12,1954 to Paul & Beulah Richards of Marysville, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the Love of her Life, her husband, Daniel Lang and her dearest friend Nancy Boyd. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Milton and Gardella Richards of New Market, Indiana. brother, Lonnie Richards (Lee) of Union Missouri; nieces Aura McKinley (Ben) Sellersburg Indiana, Alena Kiefer (Matt) of Evansville, Indiana, Alinda Houin and family of Plymouth, Indiana, Alisa Hinzman and family of Ankey, Iowa; great niece Maela McKinley; great Nephews Cash & Carter Kiefer; Her beloved faithful canine companion, Mattie; along with several cousins and many close friends which she viewed as her extended family.
Nonie, as she was known by everyone, was a kind, compassionate, loving, funny, gentle and stubborn soul. A friend to everyone. With the gift to gab, she never met anyone she wouldn't talk to as if she'd known you your entire life. She could brighten someone's day and put a smile on anyone's face with a funny comment or one of her clever little anecdotal sayings. Often quoting her mom with, "Lord willing and the creek don't rise!" She was grateful for the blessings God gave her and spent her life providing kindness by striving to pass little blessings on to others. Her generosity was unmatched. She thrived in lending a helping hand and always willing to give what she had to anyone in need. She was the owner operator and driver of Richards Puppy Dog Express. She retired after 13 years of driving across the country with over a million miles logged accident free. An accomplishment she was very proud to obtain. Missing her travels, she frequently spoke of longing to be on the road traveling to some of her favorite places. She held a BS in general studies and an associate in recreational leadership from Indiana University. She also studied sign language at University of Louisville and many times during a conversation she would sign because she enjoyed it so much and wished for others to know the language. She was also fond of the language of poetry. Not many knew of her poetic skills. Nonie was quite the classic country and oldie’s concert enthusiast. Senior dances in Madison and the Scottsburg Jamboree being her most visited venues. Years spent wondering the music scene with Danny and his musician colleges made her a one-of-a-kind groupie. Cooking brought her great enjoyment, wine-making was a passion, persimmon being her specialty, and she could have held a title in bargain hunting. She never met a bargain she didn't like. By far, one of her greatest delights was spending time with her great niece, Maela. September 12 was the day they shared and celebrated each year together. “Annie”, aka Nonie, and Maela possessed a special and indescribable bond that brought so much joy to them both.
Nonie’s positive spirit guided her through life and she made a conscious choice to look at the good things and not dwell on the bad that was out of her control. “I'm grateful the Lord lets me put my pants on straight every day and not let the devil interfere with my day" was her daily mantra and a testimony to her outlook on life. She wished to leave everyone with a little tidbit of her wisdom and humor, with which to remember her.
"Always thank God for the little things that touches your life each day, for it's a blessing that you get up every day! God Bless and Goodbye"!
She will be missed!
There will be a celebration of life at a later date yet to be determined.
Expressions of Sympathy can be made to States Cemetery in New Market, Indiana by way of Gardella Richards

I am so sorry I didnt know of Nonie’s passing.
I met Nonie at UofL in a sign language class. We always stayed in touch even when I moved to Florida. I was so grateful she got to visit me after Danny’s passing. We moved back to KY in Jan of 2024 but I only got to visit her once. We were communicating on social media but the last I heard from her was Oct. I asked to come and see her but she simply asked me to pray. We didn’t talk daily but I will truly miss her. Everytime I saw her, she wanted me to sign with her.
Nonie, I am still waiting for my persimmon wine you promised me. I love ya, my friend.

I am glad I had the pleasure of meeting and knowing Nonie. She gave a bottle of wine that I will now keep to remember her by. Several times she had something for me to take to Exit 0 and I was glad to help her out with that.
