Rev. Jana Knight Craggs

Rev. Jana Knight Craggs, 57, died peacefully at home on Sunday, June 16, 2024, supported by her loving husband Rodney Craggs, her father and her good friend Sheri. Jana was a 30-year Cancer survivor of four different types of cancers. She truly embodied courage, love and laughter and was an inspiration to all who met her. She will be missed.
Jana was born in Akron, OH to Pam and Nelson Knight. She graduated from the University of Louisville with an undergraduate degree in English Literature with a minor in Spanish. She met and married Rodney while attending the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. In January, they celebrated their 30th Wedding Anniversary. She graduated from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity degree with emphasis in Pastoral Care and Counseling. Jana also received her post masters from Converse College with an Educational Specialist degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Jana and Rodney both completed their chaplain residency in Atlanta, GA. Over the years, Jana was a Mental Health Counselor and Marriage and Family Therapist in South Carolina, Indiana, and Kentucky.
She loved her husband Rodney deeply as well her many dogs and cats through the years. She found joy in using her Spanish speaking skills while counseling. In recent years, she also utilized those skill as a certified Spanish Interpreter within the medical community. She loved music of all types and enjoyed playing the piano since she was four years old. Her hobby of beading and jewelry making brought her great joy. As an ordained Baptist Minister, she was an avid supporter of women in ministry. She touched many lives and helped many children through her work as an adolescent counselor while offering comfort to countless Spanish speaking immigrants emotionally and spiritually through the years. She also put up with her husband’s extensive Star Wars collections.
Jana is preceded in death by her mother Pamela Knight. She is survived by her husband the Rev. Rodney Craggs, her father Nelson Knight, her sister Amy Carroll (Jim), her nephews and nieces, Nelson Carroll, Delaney Carroll, Kimberly Kruse and Alexander Bailey.
The funeral service will be on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, 11:00 am at Broadway Baptist Church located at 4000 Brownsboro Road, Louisville, KY. A live streaming option will be available for out of town friends and family. Visitation will be following the service from 11:30am to 2:00 pm in the Fellowship Hall of the church.
