Rhett David Bourland

Rhett Bourland, born July 8, 1978, passed away at home on June 25, 2025, after a short battle with cancer.

He is survived by his children, Ethan Bourland and Alexander Blagrave; his sister, Amy Jensen; and his nieces and nephews, Will, Hayden, and Lily Jensen. He is also survived by his father, Shelby Bourland.

Rhett was preceded in death by his mother, Leslie Bourland, and his brother-in-law, Anders Jensen.

Rhett had a lifelong passion for meteorite collecting. He began his collection as a young adult and took great pride in adding to it over the years, especially cherishing his lunar and Martian specimens. He was one of the founding members of the International Meteorite Collectors Association (IMCA), which has since grown into a respected and widely used resource for collectors around the world.

In addition to his interest in meteorites, Rhett loved music. He played guitar and enjoyed building a personal collection of instruments. He also had a deep love for animals—especially his beloved dogs, Molly and Luna.
