Rita Rose Duncan

Rita Rose Rutherford Battoe Duncan, 64, of Paoli, IN passed away suddenly on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany, IN.

Born March 5, 1959, in Corydon, the daughter of Daisy Iona Crecelius Rutherford and the late Paul A. Rutherford.

She was a 1977 graduate of Corydon Central High School.

Rita was a homemaker. She loved her family and always put others before herself. She enjoyed crocheting and making gifts for people by hand.

Rita was an avid movie fan. She loved Grease, The Wizard of oz, Winnie the Pooh and Garfield. She enjoyed comedy, musical and horror movie genres. She also had a love for Elvis Presley’s music and animals such as cats, dogs, fish, guinea pigs, hamsters and parakeets.

She is survived by her husband, James William “Bill” Duncan, her sons, Darrell L. Battoe and Gregg L. Battoe (Caitlyn); grandsons, Seth P. Battoe and Finn A. Battoe, her mother Daisy Rutherford, her brother Eddie L. Rutherford (Kelli), her sister, Pamela S. Rutherford Emily (Phillip); nieces Jessica, Jamie, and Justina; nephew Shane and 8 great-nieces and nephews.

Cremation was chosen and handled by Magnolia Cremations. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
