Rocky Dean Bevins

Rocky Dean Bevins, 41, of Paintsville, KY, passed away on September 12, 2026, at the University of Louisville Hospital due to complications from lymphoma.

Rocky was a cherished husband, son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle, cousin, and friend. He possessed a notably quick wit, keen intelligence, and a wonderfully dry sense of humor that endeared him to those around him.

A coding enthusiast since his teenage years, Rocky later turned his passion into a career and became a talented web developer with more than 20 years of professional experience. He leaves behind many valued friends and colleagues, most recently at IDEXX Laboratories, where he worked for the past nine years.

Rocky’s favorite place to live and visit was Millinocket, ME, where he admired the views of Mount Katahdin and nearby Baxter State Park. He loved exploring Maine through daily walks, SxS excursions, and scenic drives while visiting the state’s many small towns.

Rocky loved reading, particularly books on history, politics, philosophy, physics, coding, statistics, and game theory, as well as comedic memoirs. He enjoyed conducting tabletop games such as D&D, playing board games and video games, and was an ardent Street Fighter player throughout his life. He also loved online text-based games and spent years creating his own MUD codebase for others to use.

He enjoyed hunting for Scottish Terrier bric-a-brac and collectibles while thrifting, and he loved to cook, though he would always choose a good Indian restaurant over anything else. He listened to a broad range of music and humorous podcasts and could happily rewatch his favorite shows, including The Office, Would I Lie to You?, and The Simpsons, to name a few.

Rocky also had a deep love for animals. A compassionate pet owner and rescuer, he leaves behind many canine and feline companions who were an important part of his life.

He is survived by his wife, Hollie; his parents, Gary and Hilda; his brother, Bruce; and many loving family members and friends who will miss him deeply. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, George, and his aunt, Karen.
