Rolando Martinez

01/18/1971 - 10/01/2024

Rolando Martinez, 53, of Clarksville, Indiana, passed away on October 1, 2024.

He is survived by his mother, Bertha Martinez; children, Roland Martinez, Jordan Martinez, Brandon Martinez, and Brianna (David) Rodriguez; grandson, Theodore Rodriguez; along with a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Rolando is preceded in death by his father, Ricardo Martinez; brothers, David Martinez, Johnny Martinez, Richard Martinez; and sister, Bertha Martinez.

Rolando was a cherished father, grandfather, and devoted military veteran, who leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and service. Retiring after 24 proud years in the United States Army and Army National Guard, Roland dedicated his life to his country, earning numerous honors, medals, and certificates, including a deployment during Desert Storm.

He was known for his youthful spirit and vibrant personality, always the life of the party. He had a deep passion for sports and a treasured collection of baseball memorabilia. Dancing brought him joy, as did the time spent with his beloved family and friends—especially his grandson, who was his pride and joy.

An avid traveler, Roland often reminisced about his adventures in Spain and Germany, where he created some of his fondest memories. He held a degree in Business Management, but his greatest achievements were found in the simple moments of fatherhood and grandparenting.

Roland was also a devoted animal lover, mourning the loss of his dog, Diesel, just a year prior. His love and laughter will be profoundly missed but forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Roland's heart was as big as his spirit, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of those he loved.

Cremation was chosen and Magnolia Cremations of Jeffersonville, Indiana has been entrusted with the arrangements.

There will be a memorial service on Sunday, October 20th at 1pm at the New Albany National Cemetery, 1943 Ekin Avenue, New Albany, IN 47150.

There will be another memorial service November 1, 2024 at 11am. Forrest Lawn Funeral Home 8706 Almeda Genoa Rd. Houston TX 77075

The time spent with Rolando resonated days of yesterday. The days of when you pushed for the results you wanted as opposed to accepting what you get. He had that mentality from the first day I met him. I would gather that he got that from his strong military background. They don’t build them like him anymore. I will truly miss my friend and teammate so we will keep the charge up hill, while leaving our footprints on the mound to show we were here. Miss You Ro!!
