Sarah Adkins

September 6, 1940 - January 21, 2024

Sarah Faye Fancher Adkins of Clarksville passed peacefully at her home on Sunday, January 21st.

Sarah was born in Hardinsburg, Indiana, on September 6, 1940 to Edwin and Bessie Lucille Daugherty Fancher. At an early age Sarah developed an undeniable musical talent that she would use to entertain many throughout the years. She played every instrument by ear. Be it piano, accordion, harmonica or any number of stringed instruments - from guitar to fiddle - she played with ease. Sarah also sang, harmonized beautifully and could yodel.

In her early years Sarah played country and boogie woogie music in different venues. She entertained many with her music, comedy and great personality. In the mid 1970's she devoted her life to God and took her talents out of the clubs and into church. Sarah became an ordained minister in 1991. Through her music and ministry Sarah led many to the Lord. Her favorite topic of conversation was Jesus Christ and favorite book was The Bible.

Although Sarah was the life of any party, she had a serious side, too. She didn't like to see anyone go without and often herself went without in order to provide for others - both human and animal.

Preceding Sarah in death were her parents; a son, Terry Adkins; and sister, Shirley Chism.

Surviving are daughters; Suzanne Adkins-Fitzgerald (Tom) and Doreen Adkins, both of Clarksville; son, Trent Adkins (Josie) of Jeffersonville; grandchildren, Rachel Heatherly of Borden, Gabriel and Leah Adkins of Jeffersonville; great grandchild, Brielle Heatherly and furry companion, Booties.

In addition to her family Sarah will be sadly missed by her large network of friends, the squirrels and birds she fed daily and by the "Junction kids". The family wishes to thank Southern Care Hospice for the great care and comfort they provided our loved one.

Cremation with no visitation or funeral was Sarah's request.

Anyone wishing to donate in her memory can do so to the ASPCA or any local animal shelter.

Magnolia Cremations is handling her arrangements.

Sarah was a true friend to my Mother. She was always there for us. You never saw her without a smile and laughter going on. She made you feel like you counted. She was fun like having an adult as a friend. I will always remember and cherish her memories. She will be missed.

Sara Faye was a lifelong friend, a special memory from my childhood and a beloved lady who will be remembered as a devout Christian. My condolences to her loved ones who I am sure know she is singing with the angels. I will always remember the good times spent with her children and my sisters around the piano!
