Shandis DeeAnn Rose
5/21/1969 - 2/16/2026
Shandis DeeAnn Rose, 56, passed away on February 16, 2026. Born on May 21, 1969, Shandis lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and a deep love for her family and community.
Shandis devoted nearly 30 years to education, shaping the lives of countless students throughout her career. She spent 20 years teaching in the Hardin County School District before continuing her calling at Jacob Elementary in Jefferson County Public Schools for the past three years. Teaching was more than a profession to Shandis—it was her heart’s work. She believed in every child who walked through her classroom doors and worked tirelessly to ensure they felt seen, valued, and capable.
Known for her warm smile and unmistakable Southern twang, Shandis had a gift for making everyone feel instantly at ease. She never met a stranger—only friends she had not yet made. Her welcoming spirit, generous heart, and willingness to lend a helping hand touched all who knew her. Whether offering encouragement, support, or simply a listening ear, she was always there when someone needed her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Ann Walker, and her father, Wayron Walker.
Shandis is survived by her beloved children, Anthony “AJ” Rose and Amelia Rose; her brother, Buddy Walker; her sister, Brandi Walker; her niece, Annie Vickers, her husband, Brian Vickers, and Katelin Strickland; her nephews, Walker Mitchell and Wayron "Joshua" Walker; her grandnephews, Waylon Vickers and Wyatt Vickers; and her ex-husband, Anthony Rose.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and lifelong learning. Her impact will continue to be felt in the hearts of her family, friends, colleagues, and the many students fortunate enough to have called her “teacher.”
She will be deeply missed, and forever remembered.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday from 1:00–3:00 p.m. at The Venue on Main in Vine Grove, Kentucky. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Shandis’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the family memorial fund at:
