Shari Bennett

June 8, 1963 – March 5, 2025

Shari Anne Bennett, 61, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home on March 3, 2025. A proud native of Taylorsville, Kentucky, Shari was born on June 8, 1963, to Patrick and Joan Bennett.

She was a devoted mother to Michael Larson Jr., Katherine (Chris) Larson, and Joan (Robert) Detrich, and a cherished grandmother to her beloved grandsons, Victor and Vincent Detrich. Shari is also survived by her brother, Pat Bennett Jr.; her niece, Laurin Bennett; and several cousins and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved sister, Teri Bennett, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond and her nephew Zackary Bennett.

Shari lived life with a vibrant spirit and an infectious enthusiasm that left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She had a charismatic personality, a quick wit, and a boisterous laugh that could light up any room. Known for her signature greeting “It’s me, it’s me, Shari B!”, she made sure no one ever forgot her.

She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—gardening, horseback riding, attending Kentucky horse shows, and spending time at the lake with family and friends. Shari had a rare gift for maintaining close connections, always keeping in touch with those she loved.

Following in her mother’s footsteps, Shari pursued a career in healthcare, earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from McKendree College. As a Certified Perioperative Nurse, she had the honor of working under Dr. William DeVries, the renowned physician who performed the first artificial heart transplant. Later, as a Nurse Educator, Shari took great pride in mentoring and inspiring future nurses, instilling in them the values of professionalism, compassion, and patient advocacy.

Shari also proudly served her country as a United States Army Combat Medic, training in San Antonio, Texas. Her dedication to service, both in the military and in healthcare, reflected her deep love for helping others.

In lieu of flowers, and in honor of Shari’s love for her country and her family, donations may be made to her grandsons’ school in Springville Community Academy in Springville, Indiana, or to the Future Farmers of America (FFA) in her memory.

Shari’s laughter, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and friends will forever be remembered. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
