Thelma Scott

Thelma ( Cookie)  Scott, 88, of Sellersburg, Indiana, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2026. She was born on June 25, 1937, in Terre Haute, Indiana, to Frank and Marie Dowen.

Thelma was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who found her greatest joy in time spent with her family. She especially loved playing euchre and was well known for faithfully keeping score at the softball field in Columbus, where she supported and cheered on her loved ones. Thelma worked for over three decades at Cummins Credit Union, now known as Centra Credit Union, where she took great pride in knowing everyone’s name by heart.

She is survived by her daughter, Beth Ann (Billy) Smith; her grandchildren, Justin (Sadie) Smith, Cody Snyder, McKinlie (Gregory) Helton, Laykyn (Tyler) Kelley, and Taylor (Jason) Jessie; ten cherished great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Jacque Harcourt and Judy Dowen.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents.

She will be fondly remembered for her devotion to family, her competitive spirit at the card table, and the quiet joy she brought to everyday moments.
