Sending my deepest condolences to his family. I first met him when Cassie and I were in law school and grew to love him and her whole family. I will be out of town for a wedding this weekend or I would be there at Bernheim to remember him with you. Just know you all are in our thoughts and prayers as you remember him together.

Dad, there are no words big enough for the space you’ve left behind. You gave so much without ever asking for anything in return. You gave your whole heart to Mom and to all of us. Your quick wit brought so much laughter, even on the hardest days, and your presence made everything feel safe. I miss you.. Thank you for everything, Dad. I love you.

There is no sadness in doing the things we wanted to and while time seems short, dad was always there, too. We laughed, we cried and at times, just silence… this love defined our space, our moment and the existence we shared, so it’s hard, it’s difficult and maddening being so bare saying… I love you and goodnight and I’ll see you, over there.
