Wanda Ann (Godfrey) Thompson

11/17/1942 - 12/11/2025

Wanda Ann (Godfrey) Thompson passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025 while under hospice care. Wanda was born November 17, 1942 in Lindale, Georgia, the daughter of Dallas Edward Godfrey Sr and Pauline (Wallace) Godfrey. Wanda lived for 83 years and left some wonderful memories that touched the hearts of her family. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Herman) Grilliot, daughter-in-law Eloise (Walter) Kirk, five grandchildren: Elizabeth (Joel) Fahey, Jason (Shana Cunningham), Jennifer (Ryan) Troiano, Taylor (Zachary) Howard, Nicholas (Morgan) Thompson, and 8 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Dallas Jr (Ernestine), niece, Brandy Godfrey, and nephew, Dallas Godfrey III, great nieces: Autumn (Chris) Schmidt, Hayley (Nolan) Franklin, Ashley Kroes, and one great great nephew. Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, Dallas Sr. and Pauline, husband, Levy John Jr. and son, Levy John III.

Wanda lived the majority of her life around Atlanta, Georgia until she moved to Louisville to be closer to her daughter in 2024. She spent many years working as an accountant prior to her retirement but continued to do some work for friends after that. She was lovingly known as Granny to her family, and brought much love and warmth to all she met. She was unable to make a small meal, there was always more than enough to go around. An avid baker, the holidays always involved a table of goodies and more Christmas decorations than could reasonably fit in the house. She spoke highly of her children and grandchildren to anyone who would listen, and boasted of their accomplishments.

Per her wishes, Wanda will be cremated and will be buried and a celebration of her life will take place in early 2026 with the date, time and location to be determined.

Wanda will be both deeply missed and lovingly remembered with a laugh and a smile by all of those blessed to know her.
