William Lee Collins(Bill/Billy)
Born in Tompkinsville, Kentucky on June 11, 1974 to John W. Collins and the late Elizabeth (Toot) Brantley, Billy passed unexpectedly on Sunday, October 27, 2024 in Bloomington, Indiana.
A Celebration of Life/Memorial will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Heady-Cralle Funeral Home, 2428 Frankfort Ave, Louisville, Kentucky 40206 from 1 PM to 5 PM.
Billy is survived by his father, John Collins (Phyllis); brother, John Thomas (Tom) Collins (Joy); half brother, Nicholas Brantley; daughter, Vivian Elise Collins; two nieces, a nephew, many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth L. Brantley; a sister, Sarah P. Brantley; and grandparents, Lee Ottley and Gertie Collins, and Thomas and Delores Carter.
Billy was sort of a wanderer. He moved around to different places until he found a spot he could settle for a while and call home. He did a lot of work helping people in recovery. He worked for Indiana Center for Recovery for the past few years, started there as a client advancing as a cook then progressed into managing sober living houses. He was a great friend and support to so many people in the Bloomington Community trying to live a sober life. Many of the people he met started as friends that became family. Billy loved to cook, smoke cigars, fish, camp, and kayak. He had an obsession with cologne and a great laugh.
Donations can be made to New Leaf, where Billy volunteered.

Bill was a very good friend. We hung out quite a bit when we were younger. I’m sad to see he has passed but I find solace knowing he’s in a better place. Rest in peace brother 🙏

Typical that Addison’s name would be omitted from the survivors.
