William Douglas “Doug” Hylton, age 56, passed away in his sleep at his home in Louisville, Kentucky.

Doug was born on March 3, 1969, in Knott County, Kentucky, to Oliver William “Bill” and Lona Marie (Vanover) Hylton. He grew up in Russell County, Kentucky, where he developed the roots and values that stayed with him throughout his life.

He was a loving husband and devoted father who cherished his family. Doug is survived by his wife, Pamela Raena Hylton; his children, Lauren (Noah) Hylton Alvarez, Seth Hylton, Shelby Boyd, and Lindsay Evans; and his beloved granddaughter, Sofia Alvarez. He is also survived by his father, Oliver William “Bill” Hylton; his brothers, Jeffery (Teressa) Hylton, Dean (Karen) Hylton, and Marty Hylton; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lona Marie (Vanover) Hylton.

Doug was a proud graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and went on to build a career in aviation as a professional pilot, a role that reflected both his discipline and his love of travel. Known as a seasoned traveler and avid foodie, Doug embraced life with curiosity and enthusiasm. He had a humanitarian spirit and cared deeply about people and the world around him.

Doug will be remembered for his love of family, his lively spirit, and the meaningful connections he shared with those closest to him. He leaves behind memories that will be treasured by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date with family and friends, with details to be announced.

Flew with Doug a few times as we were both pilots for the same company. An excellent pilot I thought and was a good guy! I really enjoyed flying with him and knowing him.
