William M. “Billy” Williams

December 12, 1952 - May 15, 2025

William M. “Billy” Williams, 72, roared out of this world to meet Jesus Christ in Heaven on May 15, 2025, leaving behind a trail of tire tracks, wild stories, and good times.

Born in Pensacola, Florida, Billy tore through the Florida Panhandle and far beyond, living life in the fast lane with a passion for sleek cars and the open road. Over the years, he called many places home—Alabama, Alaska, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Oklahoma—leaving his mark wherever he went.

A proud and decorated veteran, Billy completed four tours in the military, retiring in 1980. Never one to sit still, he went on to open restaurants, work at Johnson & Johnson, and eventually moved to Atlanta to join Wrigley/Mars before retiring fully. In retirement, Billy slowed down just enough to enjoy life with his daughter Stacey Williams (Louisville, KY), his grandkids—Malik Smith, Jerry King, Aria Williams, Chase Casewell, and Deasia Smith—and his great-granddaughter Nova Smith. “Grandpa Billy” remained sharp to the end—sarcasm on point, comebacks smooth as ever, and his humor unmatched.

He is survived by his daughter Stacey, his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchild, as well as various cousins, his sister Bonnie, and his ex-wife and dear friend, Gayle Geary. Heartfelt love goes to his cousin Van and Van’s wife Joy—Billy always kept his people close.

Billy was preceded in death by his mother, Fredia Steiner (Switzerland); father, Robert Williams (Alabama); brother, Fredric Flag; sister, Cynthia Williams; and his beloved son, Jerry “Scooter” Williams (Louisville, KY). Billy didn’t care much for formalities, so there will be no stuffy service—he would’ve burned out and bolted before anyone could say “amen.” Instead, fry up some snapper, pop open a cold beer, and raise a glass in his honor.

Tell ‘em Dad/Grandpa Billy’s chillin’ with Jesus and Scooter now.
Until we meet again, Dad. Stay fresh, always.
