Barbara D. Fraley
December 11, 1957 – March 24, 2026
Barbara “Barb” D. Fraley passed away on March 24, 2026, after a courageous six-year battle with cancer. Throughout her journey, Barb showed remarkable strength, grace, and resilience—never complaining and never giving up.
Barb was a trailblazer from an early age. She made history as the first female athlete from Hobart High School to receive an athletic scholarship. A gifted and passionate competitor, she excelled as an all-star shortstop and proudly participated in basketball, volleyball, soccer, and track. Her talent, determination, and love for sports left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Above all, Barb will be remembered for her kind heart, unwavering spirit, and the deep love she shared with those around her. She is survived by her beloved wife, Pam Passera; her cherished cat, Mollie; three siblings; and hundreds of friends whose lives she touched in meaningful ways.
In honoring Barb’s wishes, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Hobart Humane Society.
Barb’s legacy of strength, compassion, and perseverance will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.

I worked with Barb for many years, at Royal Envelope. Many a time I would talk to her about work and softball. She would always ask me about what was going on in my life. She loved it when I would send her pictures of my grandkids. Barb was a wonderful person.

I have the best memories of Bsrb. Hell of an athlete. We spent much of our youth playing softball together, representing Hobart. always quiet, kind and a beautiful smile. The best short stop! Rest in peace Barb.

I will always treasure Barb first breast cancer ride on my motorcycle on October 5, 2024 then after the ride we had a great dinner at Granite City Brewery in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The world maybe a little dimmer without her but her memory brings a light that will never go out.

Barb was a sweet soul always ready to give a tip on how to play pickleball better. I will miss you my Sagittarius sister.
